When we start a project with our clients, we do not know where it is going to take us, or them. A recent client brought us into their home to view their family space. They were ready for new curtains, a new rug, and updated furnishings. Furnishings can also include new end tables and new lamps, along with art to complete a room. At this stage, we measure the room and windows for curtains and take photos so that we can lay it all out and work from our notes. First, we create a scaled room drawing so we can select the correct size for the furnishings. After that, the fun begins with mounds of fabrics and creative ideas of how to use them. We lay the fabrics out and then think about what fabulous window treatments we can conceptualize. Prints are back in, as well, for window treatments. We embrace the excitement created around prints, but sometimes the room calls out for a more transitional solid linen with a bold trim. Our design team adores all of it because we are here to tell you that it completes a room, minimizes noise, while adding warmth to any room. We prefer uncomplicated simple drapery panels, whether they are prints or solids with a trim. We simply love fabrics! It is the candy that feeds a designer’s soul.
A couple of reasons why clients call us for window treatments are sun or privacy issues. We analyze their needs and recommend a product that will work for them. If they need to pull a window treatment up and down every night, remote-controlled blinds are an excellent choice. Maybe they would like fabric covering but do not have room for curtains, shades are an option. Shutter can be a stationary option. The client can decide how much light or privacy is needed by adjusting the slats angle. Click Projects at the top of the page for additional homes we have done.
