For the last decade, grays have dominated the home furnishings and décor world. New colors are popping up in all the magazines and in decorating books. Also, we saw new colors at the High Point market. None of them included gray. But what we did see was chocolate or brown in almost every showroom in rich velvets. The accents were green, gold, blue, cream, coral pink, and plenty of wood texture. Rich Chocolate is like the new neutral. I remember when robin’s eye and brown were the thing, which was about 20 years ago. A nice chocolate velvet is always timeless. White bedding looks great with a chocolate fabric headboard and there are so many fabrics that already have brown in their prints. Versions of chocolate work great on an accent wall as well, including cocoa and latte. Think about your new look for the upcoming season. Hire a professional if you have trouble working with new colors.
