Mixing textures, metal, rattan, fabrics, wool rugs, oils and more make rooms more interesting when designing a space.   The Atlanta market is this coming weekend, and I have plans to hit the booth that has African antique fabrics.   The booth is always at the back corner and easily found.  I spend hours trying to decide on fabrics and what I can do with them or what I can’t do without.   We make pillows, throws, and shams if there is enough of one pattern.  Mixing textures could mean that the chairs in your dining room have metal bases and texture fabric seats.   Fabrics give you the most options to layer textures in a room.   Raised embroidery patterns and chenille are a start.  The Italians did it first with raised chenille patterns.   Fortuny is a factory in Italy that has the most beautiful fabrics and when I find them, I try to purchase yardage at antique markets.    Pulling all the textures I love into a project is just the beginning of a possible outcome for our clients.   Designing above expectations is our goal.
