It’s that time of year again when we focus on the Parade of Homes Showcase. We normally work alongside builder, Don Hamrick, to select the materials for his homes. We start with the outside brick, hardy board or siding, windows, roofing, porch materials, lighting for inside and out, flooring, tile, plumbing, granite or quartz, cabinets and colors. It is challenging but rewarding. The rewards come when you see the canvas finished. Sometimes, you have to erase what you imagined on your canvas, because something happens that is not possible to correct. Fabrics come alive, once you put them in the Parade Home. Finishes, textures, and light are so beautiful and make you want to move right in. We stage most of the house, so people can see what it could look like if they purchased it. This year’s home is in Buena Vista on Buena Vista Road in Winston Salem. It is in the heart of Winston-Salem where old houses line the streets and nostalgia rings out. I am taking my trove of treasures to decorate the house. I bought accessories that will take you back in time when you see them. We harmoniously blend antiques and vintage with family-friendly furnishings and modern fabrics. A mix of art and décor will bring a smile to your face. Don’t miss this year’s Parade of Homes and see what we purchased at the Atlanta Antique show.
