When designing a room or multiple rooms in your home, adding color can be exactly what you need.  Color is showing up in decorator’s magazines in kitchen backsplashes, fabrics for chairs, pillows, artwork, rugs, walls, and some cabinets.   We remodeled a kitchen in the mountains last year where we used Blue Star appliances that offered an array of colors.   We used the color Ocean for the hood with gold banding.  The range was stainless, but we used the gold knobs to tie the two together.  We also installed the Ocean paneled refrigerator.   We mixed stained and ivory finishes.  It was a beautiful combination since it was a mountain house built in the l800s.  More projects this year involved geometric wallpaper, print curtains, and colorful pillows.  We also love mixing texture with furnishings such as wicker lamps and trim on pillows and curtains.  Fabric on chairs can be exciting as well.  Bold geometrics are always a good choice for dining chairs.   Another one of our favorites is velvet for dining chairs.  A very dramatic effect.   Tying colors together with florals and rugs will make it all come together. Don’t be afraid to add color.
