We often have many clients come to us with the question of what to do with a tired dining room.  To start, we build character by suggesting what seems to be the shimmering solution:  paint.  Paint is easy and inexpensive, and we work within the client’s budget to expand from there.  Add some upholstered end chairs, new drapery hardware, and a stunning chandelier, and you’re on your way to a great new dining room!

For one dining room makeover, we simply replaced wobbly chairs with new ones that were upholstered in a simple, subdued cream and gold geometric fabric.  The table was not in great condition, but looked like new against the  light-colored chairs.  We painted the room the lightest blue we could come up with, left the current curtains made of sheer fabric, and installed new traverse rods of a cream patina color. We also selected a new chandelier, a new mirror over old sideboard, and two new lamps.

My client told me they had a professional photographer come to take photos of grandchildren and the photographer simply could not quit talking about the character of their dining room.  The dining room is often the first room a guest sees upon entering your house, so why not make a few simple changes to give a lasting impression?
