With thousands of fabrics to choose from, picking the perfect one can seem like a daunting task. However, having an eye for color and a healthy amount of experience can make it much easier. Just like choosing the perfect sofa, there are many factors that go into choosing the perfect fabric. Durability, texture, pattern, color, stain resistance, and price can quickly narrow down the choices. Fabrics can be suitable for window treatments, or upholstery, or both. When you put all these factors into place, you can be left with a handful of fabrics suitable for a project.
When we first meet with a client, we ask many questions to get to know their needs and tastes. This information is critical in guiding our search for fabrics. We then present our design scheme to a client, giving them the option to mix and match the fabrics we have chosen until they find their perfect combination. For example, when pulling together a family room, we may have 1 or 2 fabrics for a sofa, 2 to 3 more for throw pillows or an accent chair, and 2 or more for window treatments. Pull in a great rug, lamps, and few accent pieces, and voila…you are on your way to a beautiful new room!
