Creating sophisticated spaces is easy for us. First of all, we can see spaces in 3-D. Immediately, we can take a quick glance around a house and know if it needs certain elements to brighten or finish a space. It is a skill that is embedded for designers. That is the main reason we go into the field. Sometimes it came from playing with dollhouses as a child and constantly decorating the spaces and moving furnishings around. I would play for hours with my large dollhouse as a child and feel that is how I developed the special knowledge. Recently, one of our designers was trying to find an orchid to fit a planter for a client’s foyer. Honestly, it was like looking for a needle in a haystack finding the right size orchid arrangement for the planter. We finally had to make one to fit the unusual 3-foot planter. We used white orchids and willow stems to intermix with Spanish moss. The New Year brings new opportunity to select one room at a time to make changes. I am finishing my list for 2024. Wallpapering the guest bathroom, added a new 2-drawer under counter refrigerator, changed out some pillows, and last on the list is repainting a third guest bathroom.
