Our most challenging questions often come from clients who are in the market to purchase new sofas and chairs.  Sometimes, clients want more furniture than they actually have room for.  After we measure a room, we draw it to scale using our CAD software to find the best furniture arrangement.  We move onto selecting fabrics and colors to suit our client’s needs, and then schedule a meeting to present our strategic proposal to complete their room.

These days, performance fabrics such as Sunbrella and Crypton have become very popular choices for interior furnishings.   While Sunbrella gained recognition for its selection of outdoor fabrics, Crypton was known for its durable, commercial fabrics.  Today, both companies offer a great selection of fabrics suitable for all types of interior applications.   These fabrics are resistant to stains and water, while being cleanable and durable.  Most of the time, you just need to wipe off the spill or dirt.  If dirt resists, you can clean with water and a small amount of soap.  These fabrics are recommended for clients with young children and pets.   Manufacturers are smart to these demands and offer a huge variety of Sunbrella and Crypton fabrics.  They also offer a variation of Crypton andTeflon treatments that can be applied to other fabrics of choice.  This allows you to select any fabric you want while still having the benefit of a high performance textile.

In addition to choosing the right fabric, we educate our clients on the construction benefits of the manufacturer they select.  In our showroom, we have a variety of sofas and chairs to try out before ordering a custom upholstery piece.  We choose NC manufacturers who make their upholstery frames from kiln-dried premium maple or European beech wood.  Joints are glued, screwed, and double doweled for durability and rigidity.  Sheet webbing and flex rods are applied to bottoms of seats to create a foundation to absorb pressure.  Seats are created with true 8-way hand-tied coil springs.  All springs are installed individually and anchored with metal tie wire edging.  Arms are covered with polyurethane foam in a variety of thicknesses and compression to create the most comfortable seating available.

After we have selected the upholstery pieces for a room, we then move on to selecting pillows, rugs, paint colors, artwork, and custom window treatments…a complete design of your new room.  We also have plenty of lamps and accessories to complete your project.  Come by June DeLugas Interiors today and see how we can assist with your next project!

God Bless,
