Our inspiration for Christmas this year was “An Artful Christmas” because we are always looking for art for our clients. It is a hard job to always find just the right piece for a freshly finished room, so it became our theme for Christmas. One of the artists suggested the title of “An Artful Christmas” and we loved it.

We began in early July by asking four very talented local artists that we work with if they would be interested in participating in this event. I decided on a color theme of red, teal, and green plaid. I purchased items at the Atlanta Gift Market to reflect this idea, including beautiful new ribbon to decorate the tree. The artists, Sherry McAdams, Margaret Harrison, Gail Morris, and Carol Willis, graciously agreed to bring their art and to be our guests for our Christmas Open House. We also asked them to paint a variety of size canvases to hang on the Christmas tree. We gave the artists color suggestions that would complement the color theme. I am sure paint was flying in their studios in July as they prepared for the November open house! We were thrilled when the artists began to bring in their mini canvases! Not only were they beautiful, but who wouldn’t love looking at art on a tree? The small pieces of art can be hung anywhere or be used in a vignette setting, on a bookshelf or a side table.

We planned this event the same way we would plan someone’s home. We started with a visual inspiration and strategically planned the event. Additionally, thoughts had to go into marketing. Brochures were printed to distribute at our Parade of Homes Event in October to 4,000 guests. An ad was created for the Winston-Salem Journal, and of course, we advertised through our social media sites, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter. One of the artists asked if she could provide art painted especially for our Winston-Salem Parade of Homes Showcase. We were excited to feature her work at our Platinum Award Winning house. The owners bought some of the pieces and many visitors asked if the paintings were available for purchase. I have no doubt that the art made our Showcase even warmer and more welcoming.
