It is amazing how window treatments finish a room.  The client recently had the kitchen painted and added a new rug and artwork.  The window treatments added the final touch.  We decided that a valance would fill the empty wall space nicely above the shutters.  The height had to be correct to accomplish the balance we were after.  We knew we wanted a light fabric on the dark wall, and found a fashionable, clean pattern that picked up the cabinet color and gave the light effect above the windows. The trim pulled the rug color to the valance and added a fun touch to the bottom of the treatment.  Both valances are mounted on boards and project out from the wall deep enough to allow the shutter to be opened when needed.  When the installation was finished, the daughter commented, “they look like they should have been here all along!”  We love to hear that!
