An existing client came to us with a need to change out her master bedroom. I want a fresh and relaxing new look that makes me happy. She said I’m on a budget. She had dark bedroom furniture that was 40 years old and she felt it was time for a change.
We have a list of questions to ask our clients when we start a project. We want to make sure we propose something that will be workable. She asked do I need to purchase all new furniture. Of course not, we can work with some of the existing pieces and make it all cohesive….and the project goes forward within a workable budget.
First of all, the nightstands were not a match to her bedroom set and she definitely had it on her list to replace those. We changed out the nightstands to hand painted patina creamy finish. We were limited in room and the sizing was important since she wanted a side chair added, we incorporated an armless comfortable chair. We removed a wall ottoman, added lamps and changed out the bed to a fabric covered complete king bed to lighten the space even more. The purpose to the plan was to add multiple materials, natural textures and some patina (night stands and dresser and mirror).
A print fabric was chosen for the new shams to work with two coverlets that she interchanges seasonally. We moved the client’s TV over the dresser to give balance. Our talented crew painted the dresser bottom to match the new nightstands. We left the chest of drawers as is. The other addition was a tall mirror we attached to the wall for one last chance to take a look to make sure all is good. “Home and Happiness” begin here with attached before and after photos loaded with character.
