This time of year, we normally write about our experience at the Spring Market in High Point, North Carolina. We want to share with you what we saw and the important trends of 2019.

After perusing many vendors old and new, we saw several trending styles and design ideas that we feel will stand the test of time.  Our top fabulous finds at Market are as follows:

#1. Gold.  Gold was the strongest metal finish this market.  For the past l0 years, most people have tried to get rid of gold finishes in their homes.  This time around, it is gilded and considered modern.  In each showroom, there were plenty of gold found in lighting, accents, and accessories.  Our favorite gold came in more patina finishes, shown in light fixtures and furniture.   There were accents of gold paint on white end tables or patina gold accents on a dresser or bed.  Hickory Chair, Hickory White, and Lillian August all had a bit of traditional design showcased in fabrics and gold finishes.    My favorite décor is whitish walls with accents of gold lighting, filled with abstract colorful art.

#2.  We saw lots of curios and bookcases with interchangeable pieces.  We like both the look and the versatility this trend offers.  Many of the pieces we saw can be used for dual purposes.  We think this trend will appeal to the changing needs of our clients.

#3. Carrara marble and Calcutta marble (with more warm gold and gray veins).  We saw marble tops on painted finishes and stained pieces of furniture.  Many of the pieces were made completely out of Italian marble and we found ourselves unable to resist touching these gorgeous pieces.  It was easy to envision them in many of the homes of our clients.  Bathrooms that use these look classic, because marbles are timeless.  I myself just put a Calcutta marble look in tile on my floor and shower walls.  My quartz countertop looks perfect with Calcutta gold called Silas Stone Puma.

#4. Colorful fabrics!  We saw a rainbow of fabrics we couldn’t resist. Thibaut is one of the manufacturers with gorgeous fabrics.  They get it right.   It’s easy to see why neutral sofas with colorful accent pillows and coordinating accessories, with a pop of color, are still popular.  We brought back arm loads of eye candy…even tempting pillows in scrumptious, high design fabrics.  However, we did see velvet chesterfield sofas in emerald and all shades of blue and teal.  Other styles were shown in these fabulous colors, as well.

#5.  Artwork.  One of the most important things we purchase during market is art.  We scour exhibitors to select quality artwork you won’t see in other places.  We place the art in the homes of our clients as needed.  The art we selected this year is transitional and contemporary, and sure to look stunning when it finds the perfect home.  We showcase local artist’s work that are abstract and beautiful.

The fruits of our labor will be arriving in our retail store and design center soon.  Please feel free to visit us to see our fabulous finds in person.  Although we’ve been attending market for many years, we aim to stay on our toes and let nothing slip by.  Our goal is providing our clients with the most beautiful homes possible.  The photos featured here are just a few of the items we saw this spring.

God Bless,

June
