From time to time, we have the privilege of being asked to help with homes that just have so much character, that you could not make that much difference. We have found the freshest ideas to share with you for this magnificent private sanctuary. The difference we did make is both unique and innovative. We want to show you this retreat in phases. From time to time, as we change the rooms, we will show photos on our blogs and website.
We were called last year around this time to redecorate and make right choices for the entire home. My design team took photos, measured rooms and we all came back to the workroom of JDI to brainstorm the best solution for each of the splendid rooms of this home.
The first project was to remodel the master bath, dressing room and master bedroom. We decided to play up all the architectural details instead of eliminating or covering anything up. The marble flooring was enhanced instead of removed. We kept the 200 year old mantles in the keeping room, living room and bedroom. All of the stained glass elements remained in place. We embellished them by showing off all the special features by not making anything too busy. The client loves everything so far and can’t wait for another room to be finished. Phase two coming soon.
