As I make preparations to attend the Spring High Point Furniture Market to purchase new inventory, I can’t help but reflect on our economy.  I try to be loyal to my vendors just as my customers and clients have been loyal to me.  Although things have been tough, vendors are working feverishly to show off their latest and greatest design ideas and colors.

Showrooms are working to redo their space with jewel tones of emerald green, deep blue, and corals.  After the market, retailers will do the same upon returning to their stores.  We always redo the store in early spring to inspire clients. Long live the neighborhood shop where a customer can walk in, touch and feel the fabric, and even  try out a new sofa or chair-drastically different than shopping online!

Buying locally is one of the most important things we can all do to support the economy and stabilize the housing and the job market in our area.   For every $100.00 spent in locally owned stores, $68.00 returns to the community through taxes, payroll, and other expenditures.   Where furniture is concerned, your dollars can also have a major impact on neighboring communities like High Point and Lexington.  Believe it or not, there ARE wonderful companies that still manufacture their furniture in North Carolina.

In our retail store and design center we are pleased to carry such lines as Pearson, Hickory Chair, Miles Talbot, and Michael Thomas.  All of these companies manufacture their furniture within a 100 mile radius of Clemmons.  Hickory Chair has been lauded nationally as a company that proves that you can still achieve fiscal success while providing healthy benefit packages to all their employees without outsourcing jobs.

When dealing with the price of a sofa, often times the old adage “if it seems too good to be true, it usually is” is apropos.  The manufacturers listed above all use 8-way hand-tied cushions, and kiln dried wood.  Both are essential to the quality and strength of the furniture.  Another consideration is the content and durability of the fabric.  As you price furniture, also be aware of the services provided by the company where you make your purchase.  At June DeLugas Interiors, we have experienced and qualified interior designers who can assist in the selection of your piece. Our staff attends seminars at many of the companies we carry and if we do not know the answer to your questions, we can usually find out within 24 hours.  Not only do we provide delivery for all our furniture, but one of our staff will be at your home during set-up to ensure your satisfaction and answer any questions you may have.  Should a problem arise, our staff will begin seeking resolution to the problem immediately.

We invite you to visit our showroom and view some of the beautiful items being hand crafted in your own backyard.
