Our most challenging questions often come from clients who are in the market to purchase new sofas and chairs. Sometimes, clients want more furniture than there is space. After we measure a room, we complete a scaled drawing using our CAD software to find the best furniture arrangement. We then move forward to select fabrics and colors to suit our client’s needs. Finally, we schedule a meeting to present our strategic proposal to complete their room.
These days, performance fabrics such as Sunbrella, Inside Out, and Crypton have become exceedingly popular choices for interior furnishings. While Sunbrella gained recognition for its selection of outdoor fabrics, Crypton was known for its durable, commercial fabrics. Today, several companies offer a broad selection of fabrics suitable for all types of interior applications. These fabrics are resistant to stains and water while being cleanable and durable. Most of the time, you can wipe off the spill or dirt. When dirt resists, you can just wipe it with a small amount of soap and water. These fabrics are recommended for clients with young children and pets. Manufacturers are smart to recognize these demands and offer a wide variety of performance fabrics. Inside Out is a performance fabric that is durable through and through. They also offer a variation of Crypton and Teflon treatments that can be applied to other fabrics of choice. This allows you to select many textile colors and textures while still having the benefit of a high-performance fabric.
In addition to choosing the right fabric, we educate our clients on the construction benefits of the manufacturer they select. We choose NC manufacturers who make their upholstery frames from kiln-dried premium maple or European beech wood. Joints are glued, screwed, and double dowelled for durability and rigidity. Sheet webbing and flex rods are applied to the bottoms of seats to create a foundation to absorb pressure. Seats are created with true 8-way hand-tied coil springs. All springs are installed individually and anchored with metal tie wire edging. Arms are covered with polyurethane foam as the base in a variety of thicknesses and compression to create the most comfortable seating available.
After we have made choices for the upholstery pieces in a room, we then move on to the especially important accent pillows, rugs, paint colors, artwork, and custom window treatments for a complete design for your new room. We offer an array of art, lamps, and accessories to complete your project. Come by June DeLugas Interiors today and see how we can assist with your future project!
