As I prepare to attend the Spring High Point Furniture Market to purchase new inventory, I can’t help but reflect on our economy. I try to be loyal to my vendors just as my customers and clients have been loyal to me. Although things have been tough, vendors are working feverishly to show off their latest and greatest design ideas and colors with much enthusiasm.
Showrooms are working to redesign their space with their new product. After the market, retailers will do the same upon returning to their stores. We always redo the store in early spring to inspire clients. Long live the neighborhood shop where a customer can walk in, touch and feel the fabric, and even try out a new sofa or chair-drastically different than shopping online!
Buying locally is one of the most important things we can all do to support the economy and stabilize the housing and the job market in our area. For every $100.00 spent in locally owned stores, $68.00 returns to the community through taxes, payroll, and other expenditures.
