As an interior designer, my favorite part of my job is seeing a client’s expression when they first see their newly refinished room.  Some clients don’t even want to be in the room when the furniture is being delivered; they want to walk into the completed room and say “Wow!”

When we first visited this client’s home, the dining room was weighed down by dark, heavy furniture, surrounded by startling red walls.  The bronze chandelier made the ceiling seem lower, and despite two large windows, the room felt dark and small.

The client dreamed of dark blue walls, which we balanced with light-colored furniture throughout the room.  The table is made of wood reclaimed from mills and buildings dating back to the 1890s.  The open-back chairs add an element of spaciousness.  A hand-crafted square chandelier made of iron and seeded glass perfectly complements the wood table.  The light-colored cabinet holds blue and white china that pulls the color from the wall.  All of these elements are grounded by a cream patterned rug.
