As a collector, I sometimes find special items that I think will look good in one of our client’s homes or future homes.  I think ahead and if I feel it is something I can’t pass up and it is unique enough that will not be in every store, then it is special enough for our clients and my own home.  My own home is full of collectibles from all sides of our family.  Most of you know that I like mixing old and new.  This is what I call Transitional Southern Style.   My own style that I think works.  Sometimes in the modern homes we furnish, we will add that antique china cabinet that has clean lines and fits right in or a mid-century modern console.  I love mixing abstracts in as well from local artists, which makes the home even more special.   I am inspired when I am out and about.   My brain soaks in something special that I might be able to share somewhere down the line.  We might be looking at a stone floor and then suddenly, lights will go off in my head.  Oh, that fabric!   Or… oh, that light fixture.  You get the picture.  Using collected pieces from family members in homes will bring nostalgia from the past.  It will give you that fuzzy feeling.  People will ask me to make their homes inviting, so there goes another light off in my head.    Sophisticated has many definitions… modern, traditional, transitional, eclectic, and even farmhouse.
