I am delighted to report that the Spring Furniture Market in High Point is blooming with a new crop of colors. As always, when my staff plans our annual market visit, we include the local, quality brands we know and love. Pearson, Miles Talbott/Michael Thomas, Hickory Chair, Sarreid, Gat Creek, and Hickory White are staples in our store who never disappoint us with the quality and craftsmanship they offer customers. We also visit our wonderful accessory and lighting vendors like Currey and Company, Darnell and Company, Shadow Catchers, and quality bedding vendors, Bella Notte and Peacock Alley. My favorite part of market, however, is shopping for one-of-a-kind items at the booths of the antique dealers.
This year all the vendors, both old and new, displayed their versions of the predicted trends. Color showed everywhere and no matter what section of the color wheel you like, something could be seen in every segment. Nature was also evident in every collection. Wood, both raw and refined, highlighted all the showrooms.
Colors inspired by nature were at every turn with blues inspired by sky and water. Gemstone hues could be seen in all the greens. Malachite, citrine, and jade colors bejeweled all the showrooms. Bold and sunny yellows melted into bright orange hues.
As we begin to gravitate outdoors to plant a rainbow of colors, let us not forget the indoors. Mother’s Day and graduations are right around the corner and it’s time to take a good look at your surroundings and see if your house needs a new shade or two.
