Each year, the team from June DeLugas Interiors makes it a point to attend the Spring Home
Furnishings Market where we can soak up inspiration from thousands of square feet of displays from vendors, designers, and artisans from around the globe. While many experienced designers might feel overwhelmed by what can be an exhausting experience, I appreciate the convenience of a local market where I have discovered unique companies and artists as well as learning about new offerings by large manufacturers. Annually, I also dedicate one of my monthly columns to what we spotted.
This year, one couldn’t help but notice the return of the blues! Since 2007, blues have been a popular staple in home decor….but the blues of 2014 pack a powerful punch. Bold sapphires, deep aquas and teals, and powerful cobalts are everywhere. The new blues are anything but soft, powdery, or somber; they electrify an interior with color! Even the most conservative homeowner will not be able to resist updating a neutral color palette with an accent pillow or piece of art in the intoxicating colors offered this spring.
I always tell my clients how critical lighting is when designing a room. This furniture market did not disappoint in their tempting lighting options. Jewelry lovers will love the latest trend in lighting. Manufacturers have created a collected look by adorning their fixtures with beads, chains, seashells, and even macramé medals. I always devote lots of time to select fixtures and lamps for our showroom located on Old Glory Road. Visit our store to view the wonderful selection of lamps recently procured!
Last but not least, my favorite market trend…antiques! A collected, bohemian look is in, which means family pieces and antiques are fused into all interiors, whether it be modern or traditional. I always manage to find some fabulous piece for myself or the store… think I’d return from High Point empty handed?!? Visit the store to see my best treasure….wait too long and you might have to visit my house!
